Safety Measures for the Aerial Work Platform Hydraulic System
1.Hydraulic Interlocks
The outrigger, boom, jib, and arm cylinders on aerial work platforms are each equipped with hydraulic locks (i.e., bidirectional hydraulic check valves). When each cylinder is operating normally, the hydraulic system's oil pressure releases the locks, ensuring unimpeded flow to each cylinder and enabling it to complete its intended operation. If a leak or lack of hydraulic oil occurs in any part of the hydraulic system, the system pressure drops, preventing the hydraulic locks from being released. Consequently, each cylinder becomes locked, ensuring operator safety in the event of a hydraulic system failure.
2.Dual Control Systems
Both the turntable and bucket systems can control the boom and turntable. If one operating point fails, the other can be used for emergency operation.
3.Interlocked Operation Controls
The onboard operating system (turntable and bucket) is interlocked with the offboard operating system, preventing simultaneous operation. This prevents unauthorized operation during aerial work, preventing accidental contact that could cause the vehicle to sway or lose balance.
