Tips for Truck-Mounted Crane Maintenance During the Rainy Season
1: If a crane is idle for extended periods due to rain, the hydraulic oil system requires maintenance.
When a crane is idle for extended periods, impurities in the internal lubricating oil can accumulate, which can lead to oil blockage and malfunction. If the hydraulic oil is over a year old, it's time to replace it. If the hydraulic oil is relatively new, the tank filter should also be removed and cleaned, and the oil lines should be inspected for leaks.
2: Cranes parked outdoors for extended periods in areas with acid rain require timely cleaning and waxing.
Because most cranes are parked outdoors for extended periods, they are often exposed to heavy rain. In areas prone to acid rain, they must be cleaned promptly to eliminate the effects of acidic substances, which corrode the paint. Waxing or refinishing the crane during this period will help maintain the vehicle's condition. Furthermore, after rain, accumulated water from the crane often creates dirt on the underside of the vehicle, which requires prompt removal to prevent rust from forming on the chassis.
3. Lubricate and maintain the crane during idle time.
You rarely lubricate and maintain the crane during normal operation. However, you can take advantage of idle time to lubricate and maintain it. Lubricate all lubricant fittings, replenish gearbox oil if it's low, and lubricate the boom slider. Cranes rely on lubrication and grease for optimal operation. Proper lubrication and maintenance will extend the crane's service life.
