Daily Maintenance of the Telescopic Arm of an Aerial Work Platform
1. Cleaning
Fully extend the telescopic arm and clean any foreign matter that may have adhered to the boom structure during construction, such as cement blocks, branches, paint, screws, etc.
Check the dust cover for integrity and promptly remove any remaining foreign matter.
Open the rear flap of the telescopic arm and check for any fallen foreign matter. Clean if necessary.
2. Inspection
1. Check the wear of the sliders. Excessive clearance can cause the telescopic arm and bucket to wobble. Adjust the clearance by adding or removing the side slider adjustment pads.
2. Check the tension of the telescopic arm chain/wire rope. If there is any vibration during extension or retraction, tighten the chain appropriately.
3. Lubrication of the Telescopic Arm
Lubricate the work platform regularly according to the lubrication chart on the vehicle.
When lubricating, fully extend the telescopic boom and evenly apply lubricant to the boom surface. Grease the grease fittings 5-6 times, extending and retracting the boom fully each time.
The interior of the telescopic boom also requires lubrication. First, open the rear panel of the boom. Use a bamboo pole or steel pipe to apply grease to the top of the inside of the boom, ensuring that every section is lubricated. Then, extend and retract the boom to ensure even distribution of the grease.
Caution: Operating a work vehicle with poor lubrication can be dangerous and may result in malfunction and structural damage. Ensure that all sliding and hinge points are properly lubricated. Do not lubricate moving parts. After lubrication, remove excess lubricant to prevent contamination with debris and dust. Increase the frequency of lubrication under heavy loads and harsh environmental conditions.

Summer Performance L-HM46
Winter Performance L-HM32
IV. Chain/Wire Rope Lubrication
Chains and wire ropes should be lubricated at least twice a month under normal use. Before lubrication, brush away any dirt with a wire brush and clean with kerosene. Then, dip the chain/wire rope in lubricating oil at an angle of at least 80°, ensuring that the lubricant penetrates the chain/rope core.
In addition to regular lubricating oil, you can use used engine oil to maintain the chain/wire rope. This not only increases lubrication and prevents rust, but also extends the life of the chain/wire rope and reduces costs.
5. Adjusting the Top Screws
During use, the boom top screws of aerial work platforms inevitably become loose or worn. Regularly monitor and adjust the top screws.
When the boom is retracted, rock the bucket left and right. If there is excessive play in any boom section, adjust the top screws on both sides of the corresponding boom.
If the boom tilts significantly left or right when extended, adjust the inner top screws of the boom. Open the boom tail shield to view the top screws on both sides of each boom section. Tighten the right top screw for leftward tilt and the left top screw for rightward tilt.
